It’s at the top of the requirements section in every job description a recent college graduate sees. “Requiring at least one to two years’ experience.”

With so much passion and recently attained knowledge, young professionals often get booted to the side when it comes to filling positions in their desired field. We end up with a job at a retail store directly after college, or hold onto a profession that’s remotely related to our studies as we continue our tiresome job search.

Their Chastity

Millions of students graduate annually with a Bachelor’s degree, and that means lots of fresh talent for those companies looking to hire. So why is a seasoned worker preferred over a recent college graduate? Young Professionals can be useful to your company as a fresh pair of eyes and insightfulness into how your office or business works. Often times, a mind unpolluted by the sections and divisions existent can bring unity to a workspace. Even more so, they can be molded and instructed to the employer’s liking. This fosters a culture that does not produce conflicts as a result of previous work experience or knowledge attained from previous employers on how an office should work.

Their Disposition to Technology

There is no denying that the millennials of both America and the world are more equipped to navigate their way through a tablet or Iphone than generations before them. According to a study conducted by Nielsen Consumers, this generation of young professionals is the largest division of smartphone consumers in the United States. With the world moving at a rapid pace technologically, employers must keep up with the trends that can lead their business and company in a more successful direction. A business must be aware of how to model itself through new social platforms that young professionals maintain stronger aptitude for.

Fostering Their Passion

Young professionals come out of their bachelors’ education not only hoping to secure a job, but also create a difference in their respective field. These graduates are high quality talents, able to work towards the vision of the respective company they interview for. The world changes and shifts politically, through economic growth and decline, and social divides; at the forefront of all these changes are the young professionals. They experience and understand firsthand the complications of such shifting dynamics through education and the planning of their respective futures. Employers looking to hire should turn towards young professional candidates as an opportunity for immense growth within their respective companies. Enlist and bring on board these bright minds that are surely designated to be leaders of your workspace, and leaders of tomorrow.

Is there really that much benefit in hiring a young professional? To hire a fresh and bright mind full of vigor, ready to take on the world with the knowledge they’ve accumulated? We need to hire young professionals because they are the future.

Often times, we recognize interviews as solely constructed for the questioning of either the interviewee, or interviewer. An interview goes in both directions, as the interviewer is not only attempting to feel out their candidate, but the interviewee is also asking some questions to get a sense of what the position will be like. When the interviewer asks the right questions, the interview can follow a tremendously smooth and productive path whilst also providing the interviewer with insight into whether this candidate is serious about their role. There’s that list of typical repeated questions that every employer favors when selecting their candidates, but some questions can truly improve the quality of an interview, like the ones listed below.

What are the first few things you would do here if you got hired?

This question allows the employer to recognize whether or not the candidate has done their research on the requirements of the company, and really understand the type of position they are interviewing for in the first place.

How would your previous or current boss label your work performance?

Typically as an interviewer, you would have references at hand from previous positions the interviewee has held. The employer would be able to cross reference the employee’s response about their own accomplishments and positive work contributions with their previous employer.

How do you like to develop yourself professionally and in terms of skill set?

This question provides further understanding into the growth potential of a potential employee for your company. If an employee is constantly taking the means to improve themselves professional and gain new talents or strengths that will assist in their job performance and productivity, their answer will support that. Employees that do not partake in actively improving themselves are less impressive than those who do.

What project or assignment do you consider your biggest accomplishment thus far in your career and why?

While the magnitude and importance of the task is impressive and causes an interviewee to stand out, the best way for an interviewee to answer this question is in also emphasizing who they worked with to get there, what resources they relied on, and whether they take that title of completing an assignment or project humbly as well.

CivicMinds team takes the time to select employees and candidates we believe would be most successful in arriving to an interview prepared to successfully answer these types of questions. By doing so, we greatly assist our clients in worrying more about the development and prosperity of their company with already properly selected candidates. This gets great hires into your door and ready to contribute in making your company an even greater success!

No company makes a business model without the intent to thrive, grow and expand, and recruit those distinguished individuals who are going to help them reach their purpose. A company can’t grow their desired empire singlehandedly either. Every great venture, whether work and business related or not, has required the assistance of many individuals to achieve that greatness. CivicMinds recruitment stands at the forefront of ensuring that our clients receive the best possible candidates, and we empower them to hand select those few who can be top contenders in the hopes to fill a position. Companies seeking to grow are not only looking for a space to fill, but an individual that mostly fulfills their requests and offers room to grow with the company and improve its overall function.

Improve Your Hiring Process

From guidelines to requirements and job descriptions, self-improvement is imperative in order to attract high quality talent. A poorly constructed hiring process will certainly not attract the desired clients. If possible, seek the help of a staffing agency like CivicMinds that operates in several areas throughout Southern California like Irvine, San Diego, Orange County, and even Las Vegas. Narrowing down geographical location and seeking candidates from areas around you can be highly helpful and also practical.

The Three R’s

Is your candidate Reliable, their qualifications Reasonable, and are they Ready? In order to grow a business sufficiently, one needs at very least those qualities from their future candidates. In order to check for reliability, call their previous employers and ask about their job performance, whether they were diligent in work ethic and aspired to accomplish company’s goals. A client surely wants their worker to be in it for the long run and not have the job serve as a quick stop in their path to a “real career.” If candidates are constantly filtering in and out of your business, it can impede on the company’s growth. Furthermore, is the candidate you are searching for fulfilling the qualifications you listed in a reasonable manner? Looking at an individual’s experience on their resume can be the first tell-tale in understanding whether their job experience matches the difficulty of work and expertise required. An employer must think reasonably when looking to the candidate’s credentials in any field and considering them. Last but not least, is this candidate for the job informed and ready? Does your interaction with them, whether online or face-to-face, express that they are prepared to assimilate into the work environment and culture? For instance, if your company requires a team player, is that person prepared to do team oriented projects? Or if your company requires more individual work, is that individual okay with a more subdued work space? If many of these questions are answered with a yes, this client could very well be a serious candidate in the game for whatever position has been created or freed up.

Partner with a staffing agency like CivicMinds and we will work alongside you every step of the way to reduce the overwhelming search of finding the perfect employee for you!
