6 Ways Job Searching Will Be Different in 2021

The year 2020 got off to a rocky start because of the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has impacted all sects of life in all countries. All economies are in disarray with the employment sector being hit the worst. Many individuals either lost their jobs or had to accept major pay cuts to their salaries, especially in the United States of America. Employment agencies in Los Angeles have seen a decline in business as well as there have been very low job openings.

However, with vaccination plans on track, the world is returning back to some form of normalcy. While people are still struggling to find jobs, companies are adapting to changes in the recruitment process all over the world. For hopeful candidates, job searching will not be the same as it was in 2019.

Here are 6 ways how job searching will be different in 2021.

  1. Employment Boom in Key Industries

Small businesses and hospitality and travel sectors are still reeling from the massive impact of the pandemic. Many have either shut down or are on the verge of bankruptcy. Start-ups aren’t fairing as well as they used to. However, key industries, such as e-commerce, healthcare and technology will see a rise in employment. They will notice a considerable rise in their sales, so a career change may be advisable in 2021.

  1. Increase in Remote Work

Working from home is the latest trend and many organizations are leaning towards it. This way, companies can employ candidates from all over the world and don’t have to limit their choices to a certain geographical parameter. Remote work is becoming the new normal so individuals can apply to various jobs without worrying about moving to new cities. While employees may be craving to get back into a physical office space, remote work is here to stay. It is also economical for companies as it saves resources and money on infrastructure. If given the choice, many companies will choose remote work over in-person work.

  1. Employment Agencies in Los Angeles Shifting Online

This also applies to employment agencies in other parts of the world as well. This year, there will be more emphasis on online recruitment. There will also be abundant opportunities and platforms to network online since it is difficult to meet others in person. Online recruitment processes will be simplified, and it will become the only way to connect with employers.

  1. Rise in Freelance Work and Temporary Contracts

The economy everywhere today is unstable and unreliable. Steady jobs are on the decline as it cannot be predicted when a person may lose their job. Many individuals will resort to freelancing as opposed to taking up a position which may be permanent but also unsteady. Temporary work will also experience a rise in employment. Employment agencies in Los Angeles note that temporary work has a great scope of turning into permanent jobs in the future.

  1. Automated Hiring Processes

With advances in technology, many companies now rely on artificial intelligence to screen candidates. When you submit an application for a job, it may not be a human who will evaluate your resume and cover letter. Computers today can detect keywords in your documents which may indicate whether or not you are right for the job. Companies are also developing artificial intelligence technology to conduct interviews. AI will be able to examine facial expressions and body language, tailor questions according to the candidate’s responses and then make a decision on the candidate’s application.

  1. More Competition

It is a matter of fact that competition in 2021 will be fiercer than it has been in recent years. Years leading up to 2019 were competitive as well but 2021 will be different. With many people losing their jobs in 2020, there will be more applicants in the market than jobs available. Companies will not have enough job openings to hire everyone and will constantly be on the lookout for the “perfect candidate”. Cutthroat competition is on the rise implying that the criteria for employment will, without a doubt, be stringent.

Society is living through an uncertain time and no one is sure of their future. But the aforementioned points should not discourage you from taking the leap and applying for the job you really want. At CivicMinds Recruitment, we will connect you with the best employers where we know you will fit well. We are an employment agency in Los Angeles, and with our simplified process, we can help ease the stress of finding a job!
