Summary

Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in good standing
  • 2+ years’ experience in nutritional assessment, coaching and counseling patients
  • 2+ years of work experience as RD in community agencies. Serving a diverse population with different cultural needs preferred
  • Fluency in Chinese (Cantonese) is required.

BASIC FUNCTION

Must have working knowledge of both X-Ray rooms and fluoroscope, portable x-ray machine, CT Scanner, Bone Densitometer, C-arm, Mammography Equipment, computed radiography, Digital Radiography and PACs film digitizer, photocopier, fax machine, telephones, and hospital computer system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for observing aseptic techniques in preparing and assisting with surgical procedures.
  • Providing necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for operations, according to hospital policy and routine of surgeon.
  • Dons cap and mask, prepares for and dresses in sterile gown and rubber gloves.
  • Sets up operating room with instruments and supplies which vary according to procedures performed.
  • Arranges instruments and other articles in specific order, placing those used immediately on mayo stand near surgeon.
  • Anticipates surgeon’s needs, such as instruments, sponges, sutures, and suction tubes, and places them in his hands in such a manner that surgeon need not divert attention from operative field.
  • Observes patient during surgical procedure for complications, such as hemorrhage and furnishes emergency equipment and supplies to prevent fatality.
  • Manages contaminated instruments and supplies during operation to prevent spread of infection.
  • Preserves and labels operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Provides special equipment such as cauteries, electro-surgical machines and diagnosis lights, ensuring that they are in working order, and manipulating such instruments to aid in efficiency of surgeon and avoid hazard to patient.
  • Observes progress of surgery, providing additional instruments, supplies, or other items as needed.
  • Cooperates with members of operating staff in observing aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures in preparing for and assisting with surgery. May apply dressing.
  • Disinfects floors and furniture in room, between each case. May go to ward to bring patient from surgery.
  • Assists during orientation of new personnel by explaining and demonstrating techniques and methods used in the operating room. # Cleans or directs cleaning and sterilization of contaminated instruments, equipment and supplies. Performs High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization procedures according to both the manufacturer’s instructions and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Re-sterilization of unused sterile supplies.
  • Care and storage of delicate instruments.
  • Cleaning of contaminated operating rooms.
  • Care and disposal of infectious linen.
  • Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.

Responsibilities

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for obtaining high quality images as requested from medical professionals for use in the development of patient treatment plans, in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care. You can expect to regularly:

  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographic images of patients’ specific body parts as requested by medical professionals, including using C-arm and fluoroscopy imaging;
  • Adjust equipment and determine proper voltage, current, desired exposure time and distance for optimal images;
  • Screen patients for radiologic imaging safety, explain the process and address patient concerns prior to performing scanning;
  • Position patients for images using immobilization and protective equipment, including immobilizing patient, removing braces, splints or bandages and positioning lead shields, to comply with government regulations and ensure patient and staff safety;
  • Evaluate images for technical quality;
  • Document imaging performed, appropriate charges and other necessary information in patients’ electronic medical records and Patient Archive Communication System (PACS);
  • Maintain quality control measures in accordance with American College of Radiology guidelines;
  • Follow quality assurance guidelines including positioning, markers, demographics, and coning to ensure optimal images before releasing image to physician;
  • Prepare radiology department daily including cleaning, stocking, and sanitizing work areas and equipment;
  • Provide customer service and patient care, maintain confidentiality, and abide by HIPAA requirements;
  • Remain calm in high-stress environments;
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to minimize impacts to clinic staffing schedules.

Requirements

  • Certifications/Education
    • High School Diploma or GED;
    • Radiologic Technologist Certification through American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT);
    • Current Nevada State Radiologic Technologist license;
  • Knowledge of:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is an individual who can work in a fast paced, high-volume clinic who is efficient, patient and compassionate. The ideal candidate will have a proven history working well with children and adults, well-organized and able to carry out patient studies as well as patient dosing and daily camera and hot lab QCs. With no generator on premises, the clinic receives unit doses from an outside nuclear pharmacy making efficiency a key trait.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing brain SPECT scans, as well as related general quality assurance procedures
  • Performing brain SPECT scans
  • Patient preparation of IV
  • Preparation of patient doses
  • Administration of patient doses
  • Processing and printing scan images before end of workday
  • Administration of testing protocols
  • Maintain Odyssey hard drive
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date logbook

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist License in applicable state
  • Ability to work efficiently with large patient volumes in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working with challenging patients
  • Ability to communicate technical information to public
  • Time management, organization, and ability to work independently and within a team are critical.
  • Empathy, emotional stability, ability to relate well to others, good communications skills and above all genuine care and regard for the patient are required
  • Familiarity with brain imaging a plus
  • Familiarity with Picker Prism 3000 system a plus
  • Pediatric experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Bilingual preferred but also not mandatory.
